Contract Description:
This project was developed to support research identified in the SRFC Hatchery and Genetic Management Plan (HGMP) Addendum and in association with the subsequent issuance of a Section 10(a)(l)(A) ESA take permit. NOAA Fisheries has indicated that this research would contribute to satisfying the requirements for the Snake River Fall Chinook portion of FCRPS RPA Actions 64 and 65. The project will help us better understand the behavior and spatial distribution of returning adults from subyearling and yearling smolt releases.

This study will 1) determine fidelity to release location of returning adults from acclimated and direct released fall Chinook subyearling smolts, and 2) quantify adult fall Chinook fallback at Lower Granite Dam. Distribution of hatchery-origin spawners is important for understanding the potential interactions of the supplementation program on natural production. Data on fall back is important when constructing escapement and productivity estimates.

This SOW describes activities performed from January 1, 2015 - December 31, 2015.
