Contract Description:

This contract is for Willamette Mission State Park Floodplain Reforestation, Phase 7. The restoration project will enhance the quality of Willamette River floodplain forest and aquatic habitat at an anchor habitat in the mid-Willamette Valley. This final phase will complete plant establishment treatments in the Riparian Edge Units which include the Willamette Edge, Mission Edge, Goose Lake Edge, and Windsor Edge.

These units total 211 gross acres, but treatments will focus on 82 acres within these units associated with native plantings that occurred in 2020 and 2021. Plant establishment treatments are primarily targeted mowing and herbicide spraying of priority noxious weeds. For all locations where native planting occurred, 3-5 years of plant establishment maintenance is planned to help the plantings reach a free to grow stage. The funds associated with this BPA contract will be used for some, but not all, of these mecha... nical and chemical plant establishment treatments used to treat invasive weeds.

To help these plantings achieve a free to grow status, priority weed control will take place seasonally in the planting areas. Priority weeds such as Armenian blackberry, reed canarygrass, yellow toad flax, shiny leaf geranium, clematis and ivy will be treated with both mechanical and chemical methods.
