Contract Description:
Background:

The Entiat 4 Mile diversion is located in the Entiat subbasin and will benefit Upper Columbia steelhead, spring chinook and bull trout.  The goal of this project is to prevent juvenile fish from being diverted into an out-of-stream irrigation system.  The objectives include eliminating a surface irrigation diversion and replacing it with two wells.  The surface diversion needs to be eliminated to provide 100% protection for ESA-listed juvenile fish against being entrained in the existing pump.  The Entiat 4-Mile project would correct this issue and could result in a direct improvement to juvenile fish survival.

Description of Work:  This contract is to fund the Chelan County Conservation District to provide administrative support for permitting, environmental compliance and oversight as well as a subcontract to drill two wells to replace surface water diversion for irrigation.

NOTE:  This contract needs to stay open until August 31, 2008.  The landowner is requiring 2 years of constant well service before he will abandon his in-stream diversion.  BPA will ask CCCD to leave $1.00 in the contract so it does not automatically close.  No Pisces status reports will be required after April 1, 2007, as no additional work is anticipated under this contract after that date.
