Contract Description:
Migratory Patterns, Population Structure, Abundance, and Status of Bull Trout in the Columbia Plateau and Blue Mountain Provinces.

This statement of work describes activities to close out  Project 199405400, conducted since 1998 by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (formerly titled "Bull trout life history, genetics, habitat needs, and limiting factors in central and northeast Oregon.")  Activities described in this work statement will involve producing manuscripts that summarize the findings of past studies conducted in the Deschutes, John Day, Umatilla and Walla Walla subbasins of the Columbia Plateau Province, and the Grande Ronde subbasin of the Blue Mountain Province.

PROJECT GOALS:  
1. Provide scientific information needed to develop and modify  protection and recovery plans for threatened stocks of bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) in the Columbia River Basin.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES  
1. Complete draft manuscript on synthesis of migration patterns of NE Oregon bull trout from radio telemetry.  Completion by 01 March 2008.
2. Complete draft manuscript on Life History of bull trout in Mill Creek derived from cohort reconstruction of PIT tagged fish.  Completion by 01 March 2008.
3. Complete draft manuscript on application of the EMAP statistical sampling design to monitor bull trout through redd counts.  Completion by 01 March 2008.
4. Complete draft manuscript on relationship between redd counts the abundance of fluvial and resident bull trout in Mill Creek.  Completion by 01 March 2008.
5.  Complete Annual Progress report for FY 2006. Completion by 01 March 2008.
