Contract Description:
These projects address planning, design and implementation of riparian fencing and water development actions listed in Table 4a of the FCRPS BiOp.  These actions were submitted to the action agencies (BPA, BOR, ACOE) in May, 2007.  These actions individually and collectively address specific limiting factors for spring Chinook salmon in Catherine Creek and the Upper Grande Ronde River watersheds (described in detail in the attached proposal).  As such they will provide direct and indirect benefits to improving survival of spring Chinook salmon.

OBJECTIVES FOR PROJECTS:

A)  (Elevated Summer Temperatures) Water Quality:  Will defer livestock use in riparian areas preventing or minimizing the potential loss of shade producing vegetation on perennial streams that could contribute to high summer water temperatures in downstream reaches.

B)  Excess Fine Sediment:  Will defer livestock use in riparian areas preventing or minimizing a potential source of fine sediment to downstream reaches that could occur from bank trampling by livestock.

C)  (Seasonally Low Flows)  Water Quantity:  Will protect spring sources and associated wetlands that contribute perennial flow to downstream reaches.
