Contract Description:
This contract will continue a feasibility project, which began with Fish Passage Center funding in 2006 and was implemented in 2009 using MOA funding, to assess whether video technology can be used to reduce smolt handling in the regions smolt monitoring program.  In 2009, this MOA funded project installed a window and box adjacent to the Bonneville Dam fish passage channel just upstream of the separator at the juvenile fish facility. Inside the box was a video camera while lighting with lighting provided from above   Video was be recorded on a digital video recorder and video files brought back to CRITFC for review.   Late equipment arrival, resulting in the system not being installed until late August after the vast majority of the smolt passed, resulted in inadequate time for testing and evaluation.  In 2010, testing and evaluation will continue.
