Methow Salmon Recovery Foundation (MSRF) and its partners, including Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), Yakama Nation (YN), WA Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), and Trout Unlimited (TU), plan to implement multiple salmon habitat enhancement projects in the Middle Methow (M2) reach of the Methow River between 2012 and 2014. The M2 Large Wood Stockpile project will acquire, transport, and stage large wood (LW) with attached rootwads at stockpile locations near upcoming habitat complexity improvement project sites in the Methow River watershed. To meet the anticipated need for a large amount of appropriately sized LW pieces for the upcoming M2 Habitat Improvement Project, MSRF proposes to expand the LW stockpile. This project will allow MSRF to solicit for appropriately sized LW in advance of project need, stockpile materials by size and type, and provide it to habitat projects as needed. This strategy will help ensure that LW of the appropriate size and species is available when needed while giving MSRF the flexibility to obtain the pieces when they are available outside of the time constraints of an individual habitat project grant.

This is one of five projects funded by BPA through the Upper Columbia Habitat Project for FFY 2011 (project # 2010-001-00). The costs associated with administering this contract are covered under the programmatic project (contract # 50379).
