Contract Description:
ODFW Grande Ronde Basin Fish Habitat Improvement Project, FY 2014 Summary:

This project continues the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife' s (ODFW) efforts to restore riparian and instream habitats in the Blue Mountain Province as mitigation for fisheries losses resulting from development of the federal Columbia River Power System.  The project focuses on the restoration of the habitats utilized by the ESA listed Snake River spring/summer Chinook salmon and Snake River summer steelhead, while benefiting many other species of fish and wildlife. Since initiation of this project in 1984, 68 projects have been completed along 97.2 miles of stream restoring 3,633 acres of riparian and instream habitat.

Project activities planned for this contract period include project planning, design review, permitting and construction.  Installation of a new bridge (Hwy 203 bridge) on Ladd Creek is planned followed by reconnecting the main fork of Ladd Creek and the East Fork of Ladd Creek.  Pre-project surveys and development of project designs and specifications are planned for the Wallowa River-Baker project.  Depending on funding availability, exclosure fencing will also be installed.  Upland and riparian vegetation planting is planned for CC-44 and the Wallowa River-Baker projects.  Fish salvage operations will occur during CC-44 construction.  Inspection and maintenance of projects will be on-going.  Temperature monitoring and data analysis is planned at 12 sites on 6 streams.  Photos will be taken at approximately 100 photo points.
