Contract Description:
This program is responsible for implementing fishery restoration projects for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes (SBT), and falls under the purview of the SBT's Fish and Wildlife Department. Projects are implemented within the Salmon River subbasin of the Snake River, in Idaho, and are aimed at enhancing tribal harvest opportunities for Chinook salmon and steelhead using a variety of supplementation methods (steelhead smolt releases into Yankee Fork is funded by the LSRCP, the steelhead egg-box program is not currently occurring and funding is TBD).

During the contract period, we will develop an annual operations plan (AOP) for artificial propagation enhancement efforts in collaboration with the Snake/Salmon Basin hatchery AOP/SOP group. The program will also continue to collect baseline data on Chinook salmon at Panther Creek. Proposed enhancement of Chinook salmon involves eyed-egg outplanting into remote site incubators (RSIs) into Panther Creek.

In collaboration with IDFG's Eagle Fish Genetics Lab, we will conduct parentage-based tagging evaluations of Chinook salmon efforts at Yankee Fork and Panther Creek, and prepare technical reports on these evaluations. We will also continue working in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station to conduct exploratory eDNA-based investigation of Chinook salmon distribution within the Panther Creek and Yankee Fork watersheds, finalize our program's Monitoring, Research, and Evaluation (MR&E) Plan, and work in coordination with the Crystal Springs Hatchery Program towards satellite facility infrastructure improvements at Yankee Fork and Panther Creek.
