Contract Description:
This project is a continuation of the ongoing watershed restoration program in the John Day basin.  The individual implementation projects are intended to improve water quality and quantity, aquatic habitat, and fish production; reduce bank instability, sedimentation, bedload movement, and summer water temperatures thereby improving water quality; reduce or eliminate migratory delays from passage impediments; and improve riparian condition.  The project also includes continued implementation of an annual monitoring program to evaluate each of the implementation projects.

Projects planned for 2006 include the Tier 1 projects for the Grant SWCD that include a pump station at the City of Dayville plus 4 lay-flat diversions st Chandlers, Emmels, Smith, and Smith/Medor.
Tier 2 projects are in place to use available funds and to prevent lost oppertunities in the event of a project dely form tier 1. These projects include one RFC  at Nelsons, and 5 lay-flat diversion structures. The number of tier 2 projects reflects the dollar requests for the tier 1 projects.

Projects planned for 2006 for the Wheeler SWCD include 4 culvert replacements or repairs including rock wier step pools for passage of all life stages.

Additional education and outreach projects are planned as well as 3 off channel water developments.
