Contract Description:

The project occurs on Green Island, located at the confluence of Willamette and McKenzie Rivers. This project will address increased river-floodplain hydrologic connection and habitat quality, through the enhancement of the swales by both removing barriers and planting native vegetation. The project’s two components cover 50 acres total. Native vegetation will be planted across 47 acres of frequently inundated swales. The removal of a 350 ft set-back levee and the modification of a pond impoundment into an alcove with high-water floodplain connection will occur over approximately 3 acres. The proposed construction actions will remove approximately 12,200 cubic yards of material, restoring the sites to the adjacent natural topography.
