Fiscal Year 2022 contract tasks include:
-Estimate run year 2022 adult spring Chinook and hatchery winter steelhead returns.
-Develop spring Chinook harvest recommendation.
-Monitor and estimate 2022 tribal harvest at Punchbowl Falls.
-Determine BY 20 hatchery Chinook smolt out migration timing.
-Document run year 2022 spring Chinook spawning locations, timing and success.
-Conduct juvenile Chinook salmon distribution surveys to document recolonization of the basin.
-Estimate spring Chinook salmon parr densities in the West Fork.
-Measure river flows and water temperatures throughout the Hood River basin.
-Reconstruct run year 2021 harvest and escapement.
-Complete final year of estimating the capture efficiency of the adult fish trap Moving Falls Fish Facility (MFFF) for spring Chinook salmon. Note: this task was not completed during FY 2021 due to Covid closures and low escapement.
-Assisting Parkdale Fish Hatchery staff with various fish culture activities including implementing natural feeding program.
-Install, maintain and operate PIT receivers in the basin.
-Report fiscal and calendar year 2021 findings to BPA.

During FY 22 NOAA will contract with BPA using funds from this project to:
1.Collect data for the Deschutes/Hood Comparative hatchery study.
2. Provide assistance to HRPP with BY 20 and BY 21 spring Chinook precocity estimates for fish reared at PFH and Round Butte Hatchery/Pelton Ladder.
