Title:
Z: 157 - MONITORING - Properties Management and Monitoring Plan
Description:
This work element covers all data-collection and monitoring activities defined in the Properties Management and Monitoring Plan. The development of this plan was initiated during the previous contract cycle to provide a structure for evaluating progress towards the successful attainment of objectives defined in the 2010 Properties Management Plan. While the Management and Monitoring Plan will continue to be developed during this contract, certain aspects of the plan have been sufficiently established as to allow data collection to be implemented in 2022-23. These include:

- Properties-wide photopoint documentation
- Properties wide riparian condition assessment
- Irrigation monitoring on the Mainstem Forrest Conservation Area and Middle Fork Oxbow Conservation Area
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
The deliverable for this work element is always an error-checked dataset of the raw data uploaded to a publicly accessible site (such as StreamNet). The dataset has a distinct set of variables (data fields), and may be captured in a flat or relational database. Describe your dataset here.
Notes:
1. In your annual report (WE 132), you are required to provide a link to your data set with a file name in the report's first appendix. If not web accessible, provide instructions (e.g., file name, directory, or position title) for accessing data.

8 Milestones
Sort Type Title Start End Status Modified By Modified Date
A EC Environmental compliance requirements complete 4/1/2022 3/31/2023 Active Timothy Ludington (Inactive) 1/19/2022 7:08:15 PM
Description: On-the-ground work associated with this work element cannot proceed until this milestone is complete. Milestone is complete when final documentation is received from BPA environmental compliance staff.
B PUBPROTOCOL Review, revise, and finalize study plan sample design protocol and methods in MonitoringResouces.org 4/1/2022 3/31/2023 Concluded Timothy Ludington (Inactive) 1/19/2022 7:08:15 PM
Description: The Study Plan's Sample Design, Protocol and Methods for this work element are stored at MonitoringResources.org and need to be completed (i.e., "Finalized" through MonitoringResources.org), preferably prior to data collection. Preparations for contract renewals must include reviewing any previously finalized Sample Designs, Protocols & Methods to ensure that they are consistent with how work will be done in any subsequent contract.
C Upload Yearly upload of error-checked datasets 11/1/2022 3/31/2023 Concluded Timothy Ludington (Inactive) 1/19/2022 7:08:15 PM
Description: Upload datasets with associated metadata to a publicly accessible site each year as soon as they have been QA/QC checked. This generally happens within 6 months for direct field-to-database input, but may be longer if laboratory analysis is required (e.g., scale reading or genetic analyses). If data is not QA/QCed within 1 year, data must be made accessible with acknowledgement of QA/QC limitations. Periods for dataset collection should be no longer than a year, and coincide with the logical biology of the data collection, which may not be on a calendar year. Example of a dataset: redd counts for one species for one season for a particular brood year. Dataset upload requirements apply to both original and derived data, which should be at a level of quality suitable for release to resource co-managers to make decisions – not the rigor required as if you were going to use the data for a peer-reviewed publication.
D VALLOC NOT required at this time - Validate Locations in Sample Design 4/1/2022 6/1/2022 Canceled Stefan Kelly 1/19/2022 7:08:15 PM
Description: NOT required at this time - Upon completion of field or lab work, go to the sample design in monitoringresources.org and validate the actual locations sampled for the field season or lab assessment for the contract period.
E Collect Riparian Condition Data 5/15/2022 10/31/2022 Concluded Timothy Ludington (Inactive) 3/8/2022 11:45:49 AM
Description: Collect aerial imagery of riparian areas adjacent to the Middle Fork and Mainstem John Day River on four Tribal properties.
F Perform Irrigation Monitoring 6/1/2022 10/1/2022 Concluded Timothy Ludington (Inactive) 3/8/2022 11:45:49 AM
Description: Visit active diversion locations to verify status and withdrawal amounts.
G Collect Photopoints 5/1/2022 10/1/2022 Concluded Timothy Ludington (Inactive) 3/8/2022 11:45:49 AM
Description: Collect photopoints at established monitoring locations throughout the properties.
