C | Subcontractor to complete geomorphic assessment of EF Potlatch, WF Potlatch, mainstem Potlatch, and possibly others | 7/1/2024 | 6/30/2025 | Active | Jennifer Plemons | 4/17/2024 2:47:19 PM
Description: OSC will utilize its geomorphic consulting services contract purchase order ("Geomorphic Assessment Consulting Services for OSC", CPO20220943 through Idaho Division of Purchasing) to determine the current condition of streams in the watersheds within the Potlatch. For this performance period, OSC plans to focus on the East Fork Potlatch River, West Fork Potlatch River, mainstem Potlatch River, and possibly others. The subcontractor will: - Compile available data, existing map layers pertinent to fish and habitat inventories, water temperature, stream reach classification, geology, surface topography, riparian vegetation, land use, drainage network, roads, and legacy railroads, - Produce floodplain connectivity, channel confinement and incision, and hydrologic alterations that limit the extent of floodplain inundation, produce thematic maps characterizing geomorphic features at multiple scales, synthesize information to describe the geomorphic condition of stream reach types; and assess the recovery potential of stream reaches. - Determine how streams in the Big Bear Creek watershed are functioning and determine the current condition of streams in the watershed - Determine how streams in the Big Bear Creek watershed may respond to natural and human disturbances - Describe stream characteristics and behavior using information such as the following: geology, topography, channel types, floodplain extent, shape/confinement of the valley, geomorphic stability, erosion patterns, annual precipitations, fluvial processes, frequency and distribution of large wood, sediment transport rates, and disturbance regimes - Describe current fluvial and relevant watershed processes, and assess how streams have changed as a result of human activities - Determine the potential by stream reach for successful restoration/rehabilitation - Compare this assessment to past restoration work and surveys of ESA-listed steelhead to provide insight into the logical next steps for future restoration and development of implementation plans beyond 2022
