Title:
H: 157 - Monitor habitat at three ponds
Description:
Collect water quality data at Mud Springs, Talmaks Reservoir, and Tunnel Pond throughout the year.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
Hach-Hydrolab Surveyor 4 water quality instrumentation coupled to a minisonde probe will be used to collect twenty sets of water quality measurements from each pond, Mud Springs, Talmaks, and Tunnel Pond, including water temperature to one hundredth of a degree Celsius, dissolved oxygen levels to one hundredth of a milligram per liter, specific conductivity to one tenth microsiemen per centimeter, pH to one hundredth of a pH unit, and depth to one thousandth of a meter throughout the year in order to determine the quality and volumetric extent of trout habitat in each of the three project ponds.

Water quality measurements will be collected twice monthly, first and second halves of each month, from May through October, then once per month from November through February, and then again twice monthly in March and April to determine extent of suitable trout habitat in each of the three ponds. Increased frequency of monitoring in warmer months occurs in response to increased limnological dynamics during these months.

Measurements will be taken from a boat at predetermined stations of maximum pond depth as determined from survey maps of each pond, at .303 m depth intervals. In order to determine the minimum dissolved oxygen levels that may limit the trout carrying capacity, measurements will be taken in the mornings.
