Title:
C: 99 - Wenatchee and Entiat CHaMP Status and Trend Monitoring Outreach
Description:
Outreach and education to specific landowners about habitat and fish surveys and request access permission to conduct physical habitat and fish surveys on private land. Track status of site evaluation, track requests from landowners regarding accessing property and final disposition of site using champmonitoring.org.

Private landownership may limit access to individual sites. Prior to sampling sites that require access through private lands, access permission must be obtained directly from the landowner. Private landowner permission must be clearly documented. Access conditions may vary from year-to-year and sites that are scheduled for revisiting may need to be re-evaluated prior to each visit.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
A generalized random tessellation stratified (GRTS) survey design is recommended for monitoring habitat status and trend in the Columbia River Basin. Implementing a GRTS survey design correctly is critical to producing a final dataset with known statistical characteristics; however, doing so requires the implementation of strict procedures during the site evaluation and selection process. CCD personnel will implement the GRTS Site Selection Protocol and Tool located on champmonitoring.org (Site evaluation will be completed following “A Field Manual of Scientific Protocols for Site Evaluation within the Columbia Habitat Monitoring Program” published by ISEMP in 2011) to ensure the correct implementation of the survey design and to track whether landowner permission to private sites has been granted or not. CCD will ensure that the field crews are in possession of accurate and up-to-date information on the site list, landowner access permission, any requests made by the landowner regarding accessing the property, and any other pertinent information.

CCD will notify the Upper Columbia ISEMP Coordinator in a timely manner if there are any issues during the field season with landowner contacts.
