Title:
H: 162 - Describe Adult Spring/Summer Chinook Escapement At Lower Granite Dam (2012 data)
Description:
The total run of spring/summer Chinook that pass Lower Granite Dam will be described by estimating escapement by sex, origin, and age composition. Escapement by three origin categories (wild, marked hatchery, unmarked hatchery) is estimated by adjusting total window counts using the trap data. The run is partitioned into the ESU by production type (hatchery or wild) using marks and tags. For wild fish, only age, sex, and genetic stock composition are estimated. In collaboration with the Genetic Stock Identification project (2010-02-600), we will apportion the aggregate abundance, sex, and age composition into major population groups and, in some cases, populations. Variance estimates will be developed as per Steinhorst et al. (2006). Over time, productivity will be assessed.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
We will estimate escapement at Lower Granite Dam by production type (hatchery or wild). The aggregate age composition for wild Chinook at Lower Granite Dam, will be described by production type. Aggregate age composition, sex composition, and abundance estimates will be apportioned into major population groups, and in some cases, populations. We will estimate variances as per Steinhorst et al. (2006).

A PUBPROTOCOL Review, revise, and Publish protocol, study design, and methods in monitoringmethods.org 2/1/2013 1/31/2014 Concluded Patrick Kennedy 9/18/2012 9:57:07 AM
Description: The Protocol (including temporal and spatial design) and Methods for this work element are stored at monitoringmethods.org and need to be finalized (i.e., "Published" through monitoringmethods.org), preferably prior to data collection. Preparations for contract renewals must include reviewing any previously published Protocols/Methods to ensure that they are consistent with how work will be done in any subsequent contract.
B Estimate abundance in spawn year by production type 2/1/2013 3/31/2013 Concluded Patrick Kennedy 9/18/2012 9:57:08 AM
Description: Expand the number of Chinook sampled at the Lower Granite Dam adult trap by the sample rate and partition by production type (hatchery or wild) using marks and tags.
C Apply genetic and age data to wild escapement 2/1/2013 3/31/2013 Concluded Patrick Kennedy 9/18/2012 9:57:08 AM
Description: Apply fork length and scale age data to wild escapement estimate. In collaboration with the Genetic Stock Identification project (2010-02-600), we will apportion the aggregate abundance, sex composition, and age composition estimates to major population groups, and in some cases, independent populations.
