Title:
N: 157 - Harvest monitoring at three ponds
Description:
Harvest data will be collected for all three ponds in order to determine the harvest rate (Catch Per Unit Effort-CPUE: amount of time invested by the anglers versus the number of fish caught, in fish per hour) for each pond.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
Harvest data will be collected from Mud Springs, Talmaks, and Tunnel Pond using the creel survey design which provides individual estimates of effort, fisher hours, and harvest rate per two month period for each of the three ponds. The creel survey design applies a stratified two stage probability sampling approach as described by Malvestuto (1983).

A EC Environmental compliance requirements complete 5/1/2014 5/1/2014 Concluded Hannah Dondy-Kaplan 8/19/2013 11:32:12 AM
Description: On-the-ground work associated with this work element cannot proceed until this milestone is complete. Milestone is complete when final documentation is received from BPA environmental compliance staff (completion can be based on pre-existing environmental documentation from BPA).
B PUBPROTOCOL Review, revise, and Publish protocol, study design, and methods in monitoringmethods.org 5/1/2014 4/30/2015 Concluded Hannah Dondy-Kaplan 8/19/2013 11:32:12 AM
Description: The Protocol (including temporal and spatial design) and Methods for this work element are stored at monitoringmethods.org and need to be finalized (i.e., "Published" through monitoringmethods.org), preferably prior to data collection. Preparations for contract renewals must include reviewing any previously published Protocols/Methods to ensure that they are consistent with how work will be done in any subsequent contract.
C Harvest survey at Mud Springs 5/1/2014 9/30/2014 Concluded Hannah Dondy-Kaplan 8/19/2013 11:32:12 AM
Description: Five randomly selected weekdays and 5 randomly selected weekend days are surveyed per 2-month sample unit per pond. Within each of the randomly chosen sample days, one of the three following secondary sample units (sampling periods) are selected: (1) Morning; AM 6:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m., (2) Mid-day; MD 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, and (3) Evening; PM 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The secondary sample units are randomly selected based on non-uniform probabilities determined from distribution of fisher effort from past surveys. The intent of this approach is to increase precision of data for the higher use periods.
