Contract Description:
The Work to be performed under this Contract is located 7 miles east of Glenwood, Washington, at RM 42 of the Klickitat River. The Klickitat Hatchery complex covers approximately half of a 167-acre parcel (approximately 83 acres of developed land). Improvements to the existing Klickitat Hatchery facilities will support an increase in spring Chinook salmon production and infrastructure to allow for sorting and separating adult broodstock for spawning operations and juveniles during rearing life stage. Facility updates support production of up to 800,000 spring Chinook juveniles through all phases of production including: adult holding, early rearing, final grow-out and on-site release.

Improvements include upgraded water supply and discharge systems, rehabilitation and consolidation of spring water intake and pipeline; rehabilitation of river water intake pumps and filtration system; replacement of the existing pollution abatement settling pond with a new in-line system; updates to the existing fish ladder; new adult holding raceways and spawning infrastructure; installation of a new circular tank aquaculture system; addition of a chemical storage building; upgrades to the hatchery security and alarm systems; optional, cost-dependent upgrades include: updates to the existing hatchery administrative space; construction of two on-site residences for hatchery staff; installation of predator control netting over the spring Chinook raceways.

The Work to be performed under this Contract shall consist of furnishing all Construction specific permits (environmental, trade permits etc.) tools, equipment, materials, supplies, and manufactured articles and furnishing all labor, transportation, and services, including fuel, power, water, and essential communications, and performing all work, or other operations required for the fulfillment of the Contract in strict accordance with the Contract Documents. Attention to quality is particularly important during the installation of the circular tanks. The proper preparations of soil/foundations must be made in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and in keeping with the plans and specifications to ensure the tanks and associated plumbing are seated firmly and fixed in place. Drainage of the tanks is of particular importance for cleaning and fish health. Additionally, we would like to draw attention to the finish of the concrete and other surfaces that fish may come in contact with. The finishes are called out in the specification with the intention of reducing fish injury during transit and holding prior to spawning or during rearing. No hazardous materials or waste is expected to be used or generated in the accomplishment of this work. No Government property will be furnished or supplied.
