B1004595Land Purchase and/or Conservation EasementBAKERS BAY-Wallicut (CLT)This acquisition consists of 113 acres of forested wetland, former diked pasture and riparian habitat. Historically, the property would have been dominated by mature Sitka spruce swamp, scrub-shrub wetland and emergent marsh. Over the last hundred years most of the conifers have been removed, with some patches of trees remaining. Currently, the vegetation is dominated by 30 to 50 year old alders with some spruce and cedar, native shrubs, and understory. The site is interlaced with remnant historic tidal channels and sloughs which branch out from major channels. Portions of the site are disconnected from Bakers Bay and the Wallacut River. Tidegates, undersized culverts and flood control levees exist in the north and north east portions of the property. Once the property is acquired Columbia Land Trust will remove these fish passage barriers and restore tidal connection between the Baker Bay and the floodplain.$576,73059.88% 01/19/2012
