Title:
E: 183 - Evaluate the new counting-window system at McNary Dam
Description:
BPA and the Corps will be installing a counting-window interrogation system into the top portion of the Washington Ladder at McNary Dam. Since it is not practical to tag fish and release them into the Washington Ladder, NMFS proposes to utilize inriver tagged fish for the analysis comparing the detection of tagged fish in the orifice-based and the counting-window interrogation systems. The analysis will cover the main salmonid populations that use the ladder. Earlier analyses using these populations demonstrated that summer chinook salmon were not detected well in this ladder and recommended that the counting-window system be installed.
