Title:

G: 40 - Install or repair approximately 6000 feet of Jack Fence on Muddy Springs. Approximately 2000 feet of fence may be replaced with new fence in areas where the fence has deteriorated.

Description:

In 2004 approximately 14,912 feet of riparian fence was installed that included both sides of the Muddy Springs and the lower reach of the Pahsimeroi in an exclusion fence. This work element proposes to secure fence materials and bid fence construction to be completed throughout this contract including winter months. The construction of approximately 4000 feet of repair and approximately 2000 feet of new sections of jack post and pole fence along Muddy Springs will allow Custer SWCD to extend a 2004 contract (held between Custer SWCD and the Land Owner) for an additional 10 year period and will prevent livestock from accessing the new habitat complexity project and newly planted riparian vegetation along the lower reach of Muddy Springs Creek.

The Muddy Springs project fence was ranked, by the Upper Salmon Basin Watershed Tech Team, in conjunction with the Habitat project and ranked high (78).
