Title:
F: 157 - Collect DNA Samples from Adult Chinook Salmon at ISS Weirs
Description:
Collect tissue samples for DNA analysis from adult Chinook salmon released to spawn naturally upstream of escapement weirs. These samples will be used to quantify production and productivity estimates for natural, ISS supplementation, and general production hatchery strays (where found) or to determine relatedness between ISS spawning populations and/or hatchery stocks used in broodstock creation.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
Archived DNA samples from all adults passed over ISS weirs plus from Lolo Creek and Newsome Creek (NPTH weirs) that will be available for analyses. Sample numbers will vary annually from all locations based on run size. Samples will be inventoried electronically and stored at the IDFG Nampa Research Office or the IDFG Eagle Genetics Laboratory.

Description: On-the-ground work associated with this work element cannot proceed until this milestone is complete. Milestone is complete when final documentation is received from BPA environmental compliance staff (completion can be based on pre-existing environmental documentation from BPA).
B NPT Collect DNA samples from adults at NPTH Weirs 6/1/2008 10/15/2008 Concluded Roy Beaty (Inactive) 1/29/2008 11:31:06 AM
Description: NPT ISS will coordinate with NPTH to collect DNA samples from adults captured at weirs in Lolo Creek, Johnson Creek, and Newsome Creek. (Lolo Creek; 5-year average is 131 samples/year; Newsome Creek; 5-year average is 171 sample/year; Johnson Creek; est 400 samples /year). This requires about 2 hours work for one man per year.
