Title:
F: 156 - PIT tag antenna design and installation
Description:
The ISEMP project proposes to use PIT tags implanted in juvenile and adult spring/summer Chinook salmon and steelhead, in conjunction with extended length PIT tag arrays to estimate juvenile and adult movement patterns, survival, and abundance via mark-recapture. The extended length PIT tag arrays consist of two sets of antennas, separated by a distance of approximately 5 m that span the entire width of the stream. As PIT tagged juveniles or adults pass the arrays the PIT tags are triggered to report an individual specific tag code. Due to the upstream and downstream antennas, the resulting information can be used to determine the direction of fish movement and the efficiency of the array. Arrays will be deployed at the mouth of the major tributaries and in the mainstem Bridge Ck, SF John Day, Wenatchee, Entiat, SF Salmon and Lemhi Rivers. Juveniles will be collected and tagged throughout the summer in multiple tributaries.

This WE is integrated with, but does not duplicate and work specified by, contract 45428 WE J & K (Quantitative Consultants Inc) and contract 39498 WE C-H (Biomark).

CCR-20674 (3/3/2011) change to WE F. Additional work period will allow repair of SF John Day PIT antenna sites damaged in January 2011 high flow events. No in water work is necessary, but electronics must be replaced and power sources reconfigured.
