C: 174 - Produce Conservation Plan For Landowners
Description:
Develop inventories and assessments, designs and specifications, and provide technical assistance during implementation of conservation plan.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
Prepare conservation plans developed from inventory and analysis of landowner's site. This encompasses the first four steps of the nine step planning process (1) identify opportunities & problems, 2) determine objectives, 3) inventory resources, 4) analyze resource inventory). Site-specific problems and opportunities are identified, the landowner objectives are determined, and resources are inventoried and analyzed to set the stage for formulating alternatives. Inventory includes identifying off-stream water sources, soils present, cultural resources, threatened and endangered species (T&E), and gathering information relative to the current conditions at the project site (such as adequacy of riparian plant community, current management activities, etc.). The USDA NRCS Stream Visual Assessment Protocol is completed as a part of the inventory process. Following this inventory and analysis (step 3 & 4), alternatives are formulated and evaluated in terms of costs, benefits, effectiveness in solving identified issues and meeting landowner objectives (steps 5 & 6). An alternative is then selected and documented as the conservation plan to be implemented (step 7). The conservation plan includes the timing and amounts of individual practices to be installed on the ground. Designs for individual practices are also developed during this step and are presented to the landowner before on the ground implementation occurs.
