Title:
N: 162 - Analysis of coliform bacteria testing data from Mud Springs and Talmaks
Description:
Data obtained from testing Mud Springs and Talmaks for coliform bacteria levels will be analyzed in order to monitor pond water quality in Mud Springs and Talmaks Reservoirs.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
Analysis of fecal coliform data at Mud Springs and Talmaks Reservoirs will be used to monitor pond water quality for primary human contact purposes, and as a metric for the trophic status of these ponds.

Testing will be subcontracted to regional laboratory. Fecal coliform levels are measured as MPN/100 ml and are compared to published EPA standards. Elevated fecal coliform levels, in excess of 200 colonies/100 ml, indicate land use management problems, primarily issues relating to the cattle grazing leases let by the Tribal Mud Springs and Talmaks Associations. These coliform exceedances are addressed through the proper channels (Tribal Associations/NPT Land Services Department).

Results will be incorporated into the annual report.
