Secondary Focal Species
A158Mark/Tag AnimalsDetermination of proportion of fluvial and resident bull trout in the Warm Springs River.Half duplex PIT tags will be implanted in up to 50 juvenile bull trout to evaluate long-term movement patterns within the Warm Springs R. and lower Deschutes R. Four interrogation sites will be established -- three in the Warms Springs River and one in Shitike Creek. Half duplex tags can be recorded at a greater distance from the receiver than full duplex tags plus they can be recorded by full duplex receivers so they will be picked up in the Columbia, although it is highly unlikely they will enter it. This work element will be implemented with the assistance of University of Idaho personnel who will supply, install, and maintain the PIT tag interrogation stations. They will procure the PIT tags and assist with fish tagging. They will also collect the data and provide data analysis.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
B157Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab DataMonitor Trends in Relative Abundance of Juvenile Bull Trout in Warm Springs RiverEnumerate juvenile bull trout by night snorkeling in the Warm Springs R. Use resulting data to determine trends in relative abundance.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
C157Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab DataMonitor Water Temperatures in Warm Springs River and Shitike CreekA total of seventeen thermographs will be placed near the river mouths, immigration corridors, pre-spawning staging areas and spawning grounds to determine Single daily maximum and 7-day average temperature (ºC) for adult migrational stage, i.e., tributary entry, migration, holding, and spawning within each stream in Warm Springs River and Shitike Cr. during spring - fall , 2007.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
D157Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab DataMonitor Trends in Relative Abundance of Juvenile Bull Trout in Shitike CreekEnumerate juvenile bull trout and brook trout by night snorkeling in Shitike Creek. Use resulting data to determine trends in relative abundance.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
E157Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab DataDetermine Escapement of Adult Fluvial Bull Trout in Shitike Creek.Determine escapement of adult fluvial bull trout in Shitike Creek using a a vertical picket fence weir equipped with live boxes and video.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
F157Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab DataDetermine Escapement of Adult Fluvial Bull Trout in Warm Springs RiverThe number of adult fluvial bull trout entering the spawning grounds in the Warm Springs River will be enumerated using time-lapse underwater videography connected to a channel spanning vertical picket fence weir. The weir and video equipment will be operated to enumerate adult bull trout entering the spawning grounds from June through September.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
G157Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab DataMonitor Trends in Adult Bull Trout Spawning Abundance in Warm Springs River & Shitike CreekMultiple-pass spawning ground surveys will be conducted in the Warm Springs R. and Shitike Cr. from August through September, 2007. The entire known spawning habitat will be surveyed in Warm Springs R. (Rkm 52-58) and Shitike Cr.(Rkm 30-44). Numbers of redds and spawn timing by reach in Warm Spring River and Shitike Cr. during 2007 will be determined.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
H183Produce Journal ArticleFinal Technical ReportThe final technical report for this project will be submitted after all FY 2007 activities are completed.Trout, Bull (S. confluentus) (Threatened)
