Title:
K: 162 - Estimate chum use and production for Hardy Creek spawning channel
Description:
If adequate stream flows allow operation of the Hardy Creek spawning channel, adult and juvenile abundance estimates will be made and the selection of redd sites will be analyzed relative to water depth and substrate. Adult-to-smolt ratio will be estimated and compared to Hardy Creek and Hamilton Springs.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
If the final FY07 decision for this project includes full funding for this work element, the planned cost is $27,150. At the present FY06 funding level there is $0.0 available to conduct this work element.

Chum salmon adult and juvenile abundance will be analyzed for the Hardy Creek spawning channel. The selection of redd sites will be related to habitat features analyzed relative to water depth and substrate. Egg-to-smolt and adult-to-smolt ratio will be estimated and compared to Hardy Creek and Hamilton Springs. These analyses will be included in the annual report.

Description: Adult and juvenile abundance estimates will be analyzed with the number of redds observed and estimated eggs deposited in the channel. These data will be used to estimate the egg-to-smolt ratio in the channel. Estimates of adult and smolt abundance will be used to calculate adult to smolt ratio and compared to estimates from Hardy Creek and Hamilton Springs.
