Title:

I: 29 - Lost-Loony Creek (BDA installation)

Description:

CCT biologists and technicians will install 3-6 Beaver Dam Analog (BDA) or Post Assisted Log Structures (PALS) to increase stream channel complexity and aid in floodplain re-connection within a 0.13 mile stream segment. The intent is to facilitate channel-aggradation, water retention and water table elevation to support existing native vegetation planted within the cattle exclusion fence unit on Lost Creek.

Large and small woody debris will be used in the stream channel and secured in place with wood posts driven into the streambed. Typical construction will utilize hand tools, hand placing of wood pieces, and potentially a hydraulic post pounder. Installation will be completed by Project staff using materials locally sourced or gathered on-site. Additional materials may be obtained on CCT-owned property with appropriate tribal permits.
