Title:
I: 34 - Install off stream stock-water on Last Chance Ranch
Description:
Install off stream stock-water on Last Chance Ranch in conjunction with IDFG in-stream project. The stock-water system will effectively remove all cattle from the Last Chance Ranch spring creek area. The IDFG project will improve habitat forms and processes for juvenile spring Chinook salmon and summer steelhead. Juvenile salmonid habitat enhancement will be accomplished through narrowing the channel width by placement of sedge mats and clumps, installing willow clumps, creating meanders, and extensive riparian planting. Project actions will provide overwintering and summer habitat for juvenile fish and address limiting factors for salmonid production in the Pahsimeroi River watershed, such as reduced stream complexity and degraded riparian conditions. Installing livestock watering systems will protect work installed through the IDFG project currently in contract with BPA. The stock-water system was ranked, by the Upper Salmon Basin Watershed Tech Team, in conjunction with the Habitat project and ranked high (72).
