M: 47 - Practice upland farmland conversion
Description:
Provide an economic incentive to landowners to aid them in the conversion from upland farming to grasslands in an effort to reduce erosion and in-stream sediment levels in Asotin County ESA listed streams and their tributaries.

Deliverable Specification:
We expect 3 landowners to participate this year with approximately 200 acres total. Landowners will convert from agricultural cropland to grasses and continual coverage crops. Landowners will receive a one time payment at the rate of $110.00/acre. They are responsible for leaving the acreage as grassland for 5 years, although they may be able to do some low impact grazing or haying (starting in the second year) as long as their proposed actions are approved by the ACCD and NRCS. Landowners are required to do a one-time seeding according to NRCS specification #512.
