Title:
G: 162 - Estimate genetic change for an integrated steelhead broodstock
Description:
Objective 2
This objective provides an opportunity to gauge the efforts initiated in the hatchery protocols to minimize the genetic hazards associated with a hatchery supplementation program, and to identify temporal changes or trends in genetic variability that may occur within and among the HOR and NOR components of the steelhead population in Abernathy Creek. Indices of genetic diversity will be compared between samples of steelhead collected from the raceways just prior to release and samples of outmigrating steelhead collected from the screw trap in Abernathy Creek.
WE Agreement Type:
Contracted
Deliverable Specification:
Annual comparisons of multi-locus DNA genotype information from 150 HOR and 150 NOR steelhead will be used to estimate genetic change between HOR and NOR steelhead from Abernathy Creek. Selectively-neutral DNA marker information will be used to determine the amount of genetic change occuring in a HOR/NOR integrated steelhead stock produced and reared in a conservation hatchery as compared to NOR steelhead.

Description: The Protocol (including temporal and spatial design) and Methods for this work element are stored at monitoringmethods.org and need to be finalized (i.e., "Published" through monitoringmethods.org), preferably prior to data collection. Preparations for contract renewals must include reviewing any previously published Protocols/Methods to ensure that they are consistent with how work will be done in any subsequent contract.
B Compare genetic variability in HOR and NOR smolts 6/1/2012 11/30/2012 Concluded Denise Hawkins 9/21/2011 1:21:38 PM
Description: Multi-locus DNA genotypes - 150 BY11 HOR and 150 outmigrating NOR steelhead smolts - will be used to determine similarity between HOR and NOR.
