J: 162 - Project Monitoring Data Analysis
Description:
For each project site, a specific list of limiting factors and project goals are established. Once these are understood, restoration and land management actions are developed and implemented to meet the limiting factors. Finally, a monitoring strategy is designed to measure if implementation actions are meeting project goals and guide out-year activities.

Generally, a suite of monitoring parameters are measured for each project site and repeated every three years. In-year data is compared to previous years in an effort to better understand physical and biological changes occurring as a result of project actions. Project success is measured by comparing data trends to goals set forth in the subbasin plan, known site limiting factors such as riparian shade, professional judgment, and comparison to relic reaches.

Some examples of parameters monitored over time include longitudinal profile, channel cross-sections, percent of stream canopy shade, channel incision, sinuosity, habitat unit types, large wood counts, vegetation grids, photo-points and salmonid population estimates.
