B | 22774 | 115 | Produce Inventory or Assessment | Inventory project areas | Conduct brief on-site visits to project areas; identify habitat factors most limiting salmonid production. This work element is generally conducted before the end of March in each year for projects to be implemented in the current FY. However, "potential" enhancement opportunities will be evaluated as they become available to the project in any month of the year. | $5,338 | 1.65% | 02/01/2007 | 03/30/2007 |

Various other State and Federal sources may also be pursued as part of this effort during any month of the year. Cost share funds that are secured by this project are generally used entirely for project implementation which allows administrative and personnel dollars provided by the BPA to go further. | $10,677 | 3.30% | 03/31/2006 | 08/31/2006 |
D | 22776 | 165 | Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation | For Gose Street | This project will enhance instream habitat within an existing conservation easement area within private property on the mainstem Walla Walla River (McCain Landowner).
This work element describes activities necessary to secure all state, federal, and local environmental clearances prior to project implementation.
The design for this project is at 90% completion and we intend to finish both the design and BA for the project by March 1. Instream work will be completed during the period of July 1 through August 15, 2007. | $16,016 | 4.94% | 03/01/2006 | 08/31/2006 |
E | 22777 | 119 | Manage and Administer Projects | Manage Design at Gose Street | Objective: To protect and enhance water quality and native plant and animal species living along and within the mainstem Walla Walla River, Umatilla County, Oregon.
Task 1. Construct approximately 660 feet of 6-strand high tensile fence as directed by staff of the CTUIR;
Task 2. Construct two 14’ gates, one 12’ gate, and one V-gate as directed by the staff of the CTUIR.
The contract period shall commence on August 1, 2003. (please see attached Project Vicinity Map).
Product: The construction of the livestock exclusion fence within this project area will result in the long-term protection of water quality and native plant and animal species living along and within the Walla Walla River. This effort is consistent with the objectives of the CTUIR Walla Walla River Habitat Project and the intent of funding provided by the Bonneville Power Administration. | $21,355 | 6.59% | 02/01/2006 | 08/15/2006 |
F | 22778 | 119 | Manage and Administer Projects | Manage Construction at Gose Street | The project will oversee all construction activities related to the modification/repair of a passage barrier on Mill Creek at Gose Street. The Walla Walla Conservation District is handling all of the bidding and contractor selection activities. Funding for this project comes from project 1996-011-00. | $26,016 | 8.03% | 08/14/2006 | 10/31/2006 |
G | 22779 | 119 | Manage and Administer Projects | Manage Project at Rainwater | There are three management activities planned for this WE.
1. Project staff will inspect the collection of 300 whole conifer trees (4' root-ball, avg 16" dbh, 60' long) being stock-piled for placement on the South Fork of the Touchet River.
2. Project Staff will collect GPS coordinates for each of the tree stock-pile locations
3. Project staff will oversee placement of trees on the South Fork of the Touchet River. | $0 | 0.00% | 02/13/2006 | 09/15/2006 |
H | 22780 | 165 | Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation | Compliance for WEs B, I, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, and R | The statement of work for this project includes activities that will require environmental clearances with the BPA Compliance Group, including WE 40, WE 157- data collection, WE 47 - plant vegetation, WE 29 - Increase instream habitat complexity, WE 40 Install fence, and WE 22 - Maintain vegetation. Environmental compliance efforts for major project work (WE 'D' - Gose Street, whole tree placement on S.Fk. Touchet River) are covered under separate work elements. | $25,981 | 8.02% | 02/01/2006 | 01/31/2007 |
I | 22781 | 47 | Plant Vegetation | WW River Mile 32 | Native grasses will be re-planted into 4 acres of an existing project area at River Mile 32 on the mainstem Walla Walla River. The entire project area is approximately 12 acres in size. Large infestations of various weeds require us to first spray out the weeds and then re-seed with native grasses. | $5,338 | 1.65% | 02/01/2006 | 12/29/2006 |
J | 22782 | 47 | Plant Vegetation | WW River Mile 49 | Weed barrier tarps will be replanted as necessary on a portion of approximately 18 acres of upland and riparian habitat on the mainstem Walla Walla River at River Mile 49. Plants to be obtained from the CTUIR Native plant Nursery. Existing staff will be used to complete this WE. | $5,338 | 1.65% | 02/01/2006 | 12/29/2006 |
K | 22783 | 47 | Plant Vegetation | WW River Mile 50 | Native trees and shrubs will be re-planted on 5 acres (McCain Landowner, RM 50) on the mainstem Walla Walla River. The area was planted by the project in 2005 following CREP specifications but plant survival was very low. | $5,338 | 1.65% | 02/01/2006 | 03/31/2006 |
L | 22784 | 47 | Plant Vegetation | SFWW River Mile 5 | Approximately 13 acres on the mainstem Walla Walla River owned by the CTUIR will be seeded with native grasses to control noxious weeds. This effort will involve soil preparation, herbicide treatment and seeding. | $16,229 | 5.01% | 02/13/2006 | 03/31/2007 |
M | 22785 | 22 | Maintain Vegetation | Control invasive species at Various Project Sites | This WE involves the maintenance of natives trees and shrubs in areas where the project currently has conservation easements. Noxious weeds are generally more aggressive than native plant species that the project is trying to reestablish. This combined with drought conditions during the months of July through September complicates native plant reintroduction. For reintroduced native plants to be successful the project has found it is generally necessary to provide at least two years of maintenance, sometimes more. By this time the plants have developed a mature enough root system and above ground plant size to compete with non-native species. Maintenance activities include chemical herbicides, hand-pulling of weeds, mowing, weed barrier mats, watering, etc. | $18,329 | 5.66% | 02/01/2006 | 05/01/2007 |
N | 23079 | 40 | Install Fence | Build livestock fence on Cottonwood Creek | This project will install approximately 4,000 feet of livestock fence on Cottonwood Ck.
