Rules and Examples

  • Rule 1 : Any ESA, NEPA, permitting, or other environmental compliance work should be split out under 165. Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation. Also, operations and maintenance (O&M) costs should be split out under 61. Maintain Artificial Production Facility/Infrastructure.

    Example:

    WE Title: Acclimate juvenile kokanee fish at Happy Fish Hatchery.

    WE: 165. Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation
    WE Title: NEPA for juvenile fish acclimation activities at Happy Fish Hatchery
    WE Description: Provide NEPA documentation to BPA and work with NOAA Fisheries to obtain Section 10 permit for juvenile fish acclimation activities at Happy Fish Hatchery.

  • Rule 2 : If more than one species/ESU or brood year is being acclimated, split each into separate work elements.

  • Rule 3 : If fish of the same species are acclimated at different locations within the same subbasin, you may lump them under a single work element. However, you may wish to split the different locations into separate work elements if it helps provide clarity for project management purposes.Please note: If fish are acclimated and released into separate subbasins, you must use separate work elements for each subbasin, but you may have multiple locations within each subbasin.

    Option 1 (lumping):

    WE Title: Acclimate juvenile spring Chinook salmon at Happy Fish Hatchery & Cheerful Creek acclimation site

    Option 2 (splitting):

Environmental Compliance

Applicability and status of the following environmental compliance requirements can be found on the Environmental Compliance tab for that work element in your SOW for all 2007 contracts forward.
