| A | 119 | Manage and Administer Projects | Overall Project Management | Manage on-the-ground efforts. Also covers administrative work in support of on-the-ground efforts and in support of BPA's programmatic requirements such as metric reporting, financial reporting (e.g., accruals), and development of an SOW package (includes draft SOW, budget, spending plan, and property inventory). | | |
| B | 185 | Produce CBFish Status Report | Periodic Status Reports for BPA | The Contractor shall report on the status of milestones and deliverables in Pisces. Reports shall be completed either monthly or quarterly as determined by the BPA COTR. Additionally, when indicating a deliverable milestone as COMPLETE, the contractor shall provide metrics and the final location (latitude and longitude) prior to submitting the report to the BPA COTR. | | |
| C | 165 | Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation | EC for FY08 and pre-work for FY09 contract | Assemble, gather, acquire, or prepare documents in support of obtaining environmental compliance from BPA (such as filling out a NEPA Checklist, providing maps, obtaining permits, conducting public involvement activities, completing an archaeological survey, etc.). Ensure a compliance letter has been received, or is still valid, prior to commencing any affected work. | | |
| D | 157 | Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab Data | Steelhead redd surveys in Entiat River | Conduct weekly steelhead spawning ground surveys (redd surveys) in the main Entiat River from March 10 to June 15 as conditions allow. Survey area is from Rkm 1.1 to 44.3 as conditions allow. Surveys will be conducted by raft and foot. | Steelhead (O. mykiss) - Upper Columbia River DPS (Threatened) | |
| E | 157 | Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab Data | Operate smolt traps | Operate 2 smolt traps in Entiat River at the mouth of the Entiat and at RM 6 using procedures described in Murdoch et al 2000, except as noted to conform to site-specific needs. | Chinook (O. tshawytscha) - Upper Columbia River Spring ESU (Endangered), Steelhead (O. mykiss) - Upper Columbia River DPS (Threatened) | |
| F | 157 | Collect/Generate/Validate Field and Lab Data | Snorkel 24 (summer) and 30 (fall and winter) sampling sites on Entiat River | Conduct fish habitat utilization surveys using snorkeling at treatment and control sites in the Entiat River.
Surveys will be conducted during three time periods throughout the year: in winter (February/March), Summer (July/August after peak discharge), and fall (October/November).
Fish will be surveyed by direct observation using single-pass snorkeling as described by Thurow (1994) at 24 sites during winter period and 30 sampling sites during summer and fall survey periods.
During each survey period, surveys will be conducted at a sites numbers specified above. Sample sites includie14 planned habitat restoration treatment sites within the Bridge-to-Bridge reach (approx. rm. 0.7 to 4.5); 4 preexisting habitat restoration treatment sites within the Hatchery Reach (approx. rm. 4.5 to 6.75); 5 untreated control sites within the Hatchery Reach.
Specific sample sites will be identified jointly by USFWS and Terraqua.
Survey sites will be snorkeled during the day during the summer survey period and snorkeled during the night during the fall and winter survey periods.
Survey Protocol and Data Gathered: Fish will be surveyed by direct observation using single-pass snorkeling as described by Thurow (1994). Up to nine snorkelers and two shore tender will conduct the surveys in the mainstem river sampling sites. Side channels will be surveyed by up to four snorkelers. Up to five snorkelers may be needed to survey the re-established off channel habitat depending on the dimensions and complexity of that area. Survey crews will enter the downstream end of the designated sampling site and snorkel as a unit in an upstream direction to the end of that site. Glow sticks or other visible markers will be affixed near the applicable benchmarks prior to each survey to assist crews in defining the sample site.
All USFWS staff involved with this survey work will be training in snorkeling methods and have prior snorkeling experience. Snorkeling will be done in dry suits and hand-held dive lights will be used to illuminate the survey area at night. Data will be recorded by each diver on a PVC cuff secured to their arm and transferred to a datasheet or electronic database at the end of each habitat units. Snorkelers will be positioned across the stream channel so as to cover the entire channel. The distance between snorkelers must be sufficient to clearly survey the areas between each snorkeler and/or between snorkeler and the stream bank. Water temperature, turbidity, sight distance measurements will be collected during each survey.
All fish observed will be counted by species and assigned to a 20 mm size class. Numbers of fish will be tallied in each of several habitat units within sample sites. These habitat units will be identified jointly by USFWS and Terraqua habitat crews.

| G | 132 | Produce Progress (Annual) Report | Annual report covering the period 2/1/2008 to 01/31/2009 | This report will cover the snorkeling, redd surveys, and smolt trap work. Individual Annual reports are to be consolidated by the PI into a Project Level Annual Report, and only the consolidated report will be posted on the BPA website. | | |
