 B33Decommission Road/Relocate RoadWhite-White Road DecommissioningExcessive road density was defined as one of the major contributors to degraded habitat condition in Lolo Creek for both aquatic and terrestrial species (Upper Lolo Creek Ecosystem Assessment at the Watershed Scale and Clearwater Subbasin Assessment). Road densities in the Lolo Creek watershed are 4.8 miles per square mile, the target for road densities is 1.0 miles per square mile. The Clearwater National Forest (CNF) and the Nez Perce Tribe (NPT) have worked together since 1996 to decommission roads on National Forest lands under a watershed restoration partnership. In 2004 NPT and CNF personnel began surveying and prioritizing roads in the White-White Creek basin. The Nez Perce Tribe and the Clearwater National Forest (CNF) have been partners in watershed restoration since 1996, which includes sharing funds and resources to complete projects. Each year, project specifics are spelled out in an agreement that is signed by both parties.

Instead, a project level annual report, which covers both the CNF contract and the NPT contract, will be completed by the Nez Perce Tribe under the BPA-NPT contract of this project.
