Contract Description:
The goal of this technical assistance (TA) project is to assess and identify the optimal floodplain reconnection opportunities at Luckiamute State Natural Area (LSNA).  A property of Oregon State Parks in the middle Willamette in Polk County, a preliminary hydrologic analysis conducted in 2013 identified the potential to increase the frequency and duration of inundation at the site, thus providing increased access to floodplain habitat for Upper Willamette Chinook, steelhead and other native fish. Based on Technical Review Team (TRT)  feedback, the project will begin with a "fish consultation" with the TRT and then a cost-benefit analysis of two specific sites on the Lower Luckiamute River. The project will also consider analyses of other floodplain opportunities. The analysis will consider cost-benefit of future potential restoration work and outline selected sites for future design and implementation. The project will also establis... h a monitoring framework and pre-restoration monitoring in coordination with U.S.G.S scientists and other partners and will conduct initial cultural resource assessments to inform future project planning.
