The field forms will be consistent with last season's data collection. As part of the protocol for conducting the inventory, a GPS waypoint will be taken and recorded. | C | 115 | Produce Inventory or Assessment | Conduct stream crossing inventories and assessments | A two-person crew will survey each culvert. They will survey each culvert using the previously identified protocol. Approximate time estimates to survey each culvert is two hours. Data from Wallowa County's Integrated Road Information System shows 1,128 culverts needing surveyed (Wallowa County, 2001). Coordinate a regional database for culvert conditions and replacement priorities; data will be entered directly into the database to limit the errors that result from transferring data from field forms into the database. The regional database is being coordinated through a variety of state and federal agencies. In the event that more than one crew is required to accomplish these surveys and to insure high quality surveys, the project leader may periodically go out and re-survey culverts at random. This way the crew doesn't know which surveys are going to be inspected, therefore encouraging quality performance at each site. Also, these inspections allow for opportunity to fix problems with the survey crew's methods in a systematic manner. Forest Service managers have found this quality control very effective in obtaining accurate and precise data. Four pictures are taken at each culvert: two from the center of the road, with one looking upstream and one looking downstream, one picture from upstream of culvert inlet looking downstream, and one fromdownstream of culvert outlet looking upstream. The latter two photos will be taken from a point on the ground that shows the inlet and outlet as clearly as possible. Organized forms and pictures make future work with data much more convenient and effective. Upon request, project leader may present project goals, objectives, and current progress to all interested parties. | | |

This methodology will be adapted to be more compatible with local issues.
